How to Cook Rice With Coconut Oil to Burn More Fats And Absorb Half The Calories

Rice is a great side dish in many cuisines and it’s used as an ingredient in almost every culture because it’s tasty, inexpensive and it can be found in almost every food store.

According to the USDA, the Americans consume tons of rice and each American gain around 500 calories extra for the recommended intake. Having this in mind, the problems with the overweight of the Americans come to no surprise.

Foods with rice are rich in starch and this increases the chances of diabetes. 1 cup of cooked rice contains 240 calories. The starch becomes sugar and later it turns into fat.

But, recently, research workers from the College of Chemical Sciences in Sri Lanka have discovered a way to eat rice and at the same time burn fat and absorb only half of the calories. They only added coconut oil to the rice and showed that this cuts back absorption of calories by 50%.

How does it work

Firstly, boil the water into a pan and add a teaspoon of coconut oil in it. Then put the rice in. Wait until the rice is fully cooked and then leave it to sit in the fridge for 12 hours before you eat it.

This way of cooking will raise the RS capacity of the white rice and increases the resistant starch content which makes it great for diabetic people or people struggling with overweight.

Why is it useful

According to James, during the cooking, starch grains absorb the coconut oil which makes sugars be resistant to digestive enzymes. Moreover, the 12-hours cooling encourages a process called ‘gel’ amylase. Rice releases the starch which later engages to the molecules outside the rice. Finally, the rice sugar is converted into resistant starch. It’s possible for you to heat the rice again because, at that point, the heat doesn’t interfere with the chemical composition.

Simply said, you can reduce the calories if you cut down the digestible rice in the steamed rice.

However, analysts still haven’t proven which type of rice is better for you. It’s yet to be found out if other oils have the same function as the coconut oil. The combination of rice and coconut oil is a healthier version of the white rice but still, rice isn’t the healthiest food. You should consume foods rich in fiber such as sweet potatoes, green vegetables, barley, squash, and mushrooms.
