Laundry tricks: 3 secrets to whiter, fresher clothes

Removing stains from white clothes can be difficult to say the least. But unfortunately, stains are something we all have to deal with on occasion.

To get your clothes sparkling white and fresh again, you might think you have to spend money on expensive laundry detergents and stain removers. But besides not always giving you the results you want, they’re also full chemicals that are bad for your clothes, the environment and you.

Luckily, there are a few ways to remove stains that are both simple and effective — and that means you don’t have to spend all your time in the laundry room. Without giving away all the secrets right now, I can say that one trick involves a popular over-the-counter drug. Browse through the list below to see how these three tricks can do wonders for your clothes!

1. Baking soda

Many people swear by baking soda, and there are some good reasons why. Because of its incredible properties, baking soda can do all sorts of things — including making your laundry whiter and fresher.

Mix 8 ounces (250 ml) of baking soda with 1 gallon (4 liters) of water. Then, soak your clothes in it for a few minutes. Now when you run them through the washing machine, your clothes should return to their natural color.

2. Aspirin

It might sound strange, but one of my neighbors suggested that I use aspirin to wash my whites. The reason? Aspirin contains acetylsalicylic acid, which is said to remove stains in clothes.

Crush six aspirin and put the powder in a bowl of water. Then, soak your clothes in the mixture for 30 minutes. Finally, wash the clothes with your usual detergent. The stains will soon be a thing of the past — and your clothes will be whiter than ever!

3. Vinegar and lemon

Vinegar outperforms most cleaning products that you can buy in the store. It takes on the toughest stains and also neutralizes bad smells. But that’s not all. Vinegar can also help the colors in your clothes last longer and prevent whites from turning gray.

Here’s how to get your whites white again: add a little vinegar and a spoonful of lemon juice to your wash. Your clothes will soon be sparkling white — and smell wonderful!

Fresh clean, white clothes are something everybody wants. So share these tips with your friends and help them make their wardrobe a little brighter. They’ll thank you later!
