Mom of 5 who survived leukemia battle to give birth to healthy twins has died – rest in peace, Susie

Susie Rabaca, the Southern California mom who fought leukemia long enough to give birth to healthy twins, has died, according to reports.

ABC13 say Susie, a mother of five children, passed away on Wednesday morning surrounded by her loved ones.

Susie’s story made headlines back in 2018, when an appeal was made to find a donor for a bone-marrow transplant to help treat her leukemia. At that time, Susie was just weeks away from giving birth to twins.

A record-breaking number of people signed up in response to the call, but Susie needed a 100% match and her mixed heritage drastically reduced the odds of her finding one.

Ultimately, a match was found, and Susie gave birth to a set of healthy twins in December, 2018.

Sadly, however, Susie’s cancer proved too aggressive to effectively treat, and she passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday.

“She fought until she had nothing left to give,” Susie’s mom said in a social media post.

“Susie’s story touched so many people and thousands of lives will be saved because of her. My daughter did not lose her battle. She won! She is a warrior!”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Susie’s family. It can be found here.

Rest in peace, Susie. The world has been inspired by your battle, and you certainly showed courage at every turn.
