There is one thing that has connected humans throughout centuries, and that is music. The lyrics of songs can describe human emotion perfectly and spread a message to anyone who hears. So it only makes sense that charity organisations would choose music as their way of sharing happiness for the greater good.
‘Angels Among Us’, originally written by Alabama, was a country Christmas single that reminded people that there are angels everywhere, if you look hard enough. From the person who supports you through a hard time to a kind word from a stranger, angels are all around us.
So when Radio Disney and St Jude Children’s Research Hospital wanted to team up to collaborate on a song to raise money for the noble cause, ‘Angels Among Us’ was the perfect choice.
They appointed the musical talents of young country artists such as Carly Pearce, CB30, Scotty McCreery, Temecula Road, Hunter Hayes, Tegan Marie, Brennley Brown, Lucy Hale, Jillian Jacqueline, Sara Evans and RaeLynn. Together, they have created a powerful recording of the song that sends shivers down the spine through their incredible vocals, accompanied by a sweet video.
Thanks to this video, Disney was able to donate $25,000 to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, to help children with cancer pay for their treatment.
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. Because the majority of St. Jude funding comes from individual contributors, [the organization] has the freedom to focus on what matters most – saving kids regardless of their financial situation.
St Jude Hospital allowed some of their young patients to go on a field trip to the recording studio to meet the kind artists who dedicated their time to record this song cover for the good of their hospital. The children had a wonderful day playing with the sound equipment and chatting with the country music stars.
Hopefully, one day we can look forward to a future where no child has to go through the ordeal of having cancer. With the help of organisations like St Jude Hospital, there is hope.
