Study: Fasting for Three Days can Regenerate the Entire Immune System of Humans

The benefits fasting has on the human body cannot be understated.

Fasting has been made popular in recent years due to its amazing effect on weight loss.

But fasting can do so much more for the body than just help you shed a few pounds.

Advocates of fasting and VLC (very low calorie) diets proclaim that they live longer, they look younger and they feel better than those who follow a standard eating regime.

Recently, researcher at the University of Southern California have discovered that fasting for three days can completely regenerate the immune system, erasing the weaknesses and leaving the body stronger.

The scientists believe this information can help those with weakened immune systems such as the elderly or cancer treatment patients.

Fasting increases the production of white blood cells, which are necessary for us to fight off infections.

As we go about our daily lives our immune systems are constantly being attacked, by external forces and sometimes by the mistreatment of our own bodies.

Fasting for three days was said by the scientists to ‘flip a regenerative switch’.

Lead scientist Professor Valter Longo said:

It gives the ‘OK’ for stem cells to go ahead and begin proliferating and rebuild the entire system. And the good news is that the body got rid of the parts of the system that might be damaged or old, the inefficient parts, during the fasting.

Now, if you start with a system heavily damaged by chemotherapy or ageing, fasting cycles can generate, literally, a new immune system.”

Fasting for a couple of days does wonders for the body in terms of resetting many processes in the body. It can reduce your appetite, help you sleep better and increases energy.
