These Three Men Sacrificed Their Lives To Save Their Students, They Are Real Heroes

a shooter’s rampage claimed the lives of students, faculty and staff.

Among those was Football Coach Aaron Feis. The atheletic department at Marjory Stoneman Douglas lost three great men, Assistant football coach Aaron Feis, cross country coach Scott Beigel and athletic director Chris Hixon. They heroically shielded students from Nicholas Cruz’s gunfire, and in the process saved many students’ lives.

“We had an athletic director, a campus monitor who responded immediately when there was signs of trouble in the school,” Broward County Superintendent of Schools Robert W. Runcie said  Thursday. “Unfortunately those two heroes gave their lives for our kids and probably helped prevent this from being a worse tragedy than it is today.”

One student described how Feis pushed her out of the gunman’s line of fire, saving her life. Another talked about how cross country coach Scott Beigel stood in front of a hail of gunfire to save other students. “He was my hero, and he will forever be my hero,” student Kelsey Friend said. “I’ll never forget the actions he took for me and for fellow students in the classroom. He was an amazing person, and I am alive today because of him.”
